Internet Resources

I often use the Internet to find great ideas, activities and resources. Although there are a plethora of useful sites, there are just as many that are a waste of time. I have tried to include websites that offer quality resources that have been used and recommended by veteran teachers. The sites listed are primarily for teachers of Social Studies, particularly Geography and History.

National Geographic. This site is an excellent place to find interesting lesson plans, informative videos, and other engaging activities. Definitely one for the bookmark list!

Sheppard Software. This site is one that students will want to work on at home! It contains geography mapping “games” that help students learn about different places around the world. Students work through different levels, while at the same time being provided with useful information about each topic.

International Education and Resource Network. This site offers great opportunities for students to engage in meaningful projects with other students from around the world. It is a wonderful way to help students make global connections.
